8 Week Triathlon Swim Builder: Intermediate
3 swims per week | Technique + endurance + CSS + race-specific speed
Become a faster and more efficient triathlon swimmer, without making swimming more complicated than it needs to be.
This 8-week swim-focused training plan is built for intermediate triathletes who can already swim comfortably, but want more structure, better technique and more speed in the water.
Across 24 progressive swim sessions, you will develop:
* Better feel for the water
* More efficient freestyle technique
* Stronger aerobic swim fitness
* Sustainable threshold speed
* Better pacing and rhythm
* The ability to maintain technique under fatigue
* More confidence at triathlon race pace
The programme starts at approximately 7 km per week and gradually builds to a maximum of 9 km, divided over three swims.
The Philosophy
Swimming is a technical sport.
More data does not automatically make you a better swimmer.
The aim is to understand how to move through the water with as little unnecessary resistance as possible while applying force in the right direction.
That is why this plan combines simple pacing guidance with a strong focus on technique and feel for the water.
Technique first. Speed second.
