BWR's red-rock high-desert course
From Cedar City, the Waffle runs across high-desert red-rock gravel, mixing steep, technical grades with flat-to-rolling stretches between climbs. The start sits near 5,800 feet, and desert heat adds to the strain.
For riders 50 and older, this twelve-week plan fits seven to eleven hours a week around the recovery needed to absorb hard climbing. Strength, carefully spaced demanding days, and technical practice build readiness for repeated steep grades while helping you arrive healthy for Cedar City's altitude, loose ground, and desert heat.
INSIDE THE MASTERS 50+ PLAN — 7–11 HR/WK
Includes zone-tailored structured rides for your devices, built-in strength with video walkthroughs, heat protocols for when your race calls for them, peloton skills workouts, weekly coach notes + the Gravel Grit mental program, nutrition and hydration guidance, an altitude module, and recovery-first Masters 50+ structuring.

The Complete BWR Utah Guide — the training, the tactics, the gear and race day, explained simply and clearly: what to do, when to do it, and why it works.

Hey! I'm Matti - also known as the Gravel God himself!
If you're into gravel racing and want to be as fast as possible, you had better choose me!
Why?
Because I'm the fastest, least talented person to ever ride a bike. I've made every mistake in the book so you don't have to and I'm here to save you years of failure and struggle.
When I'm not helping my athletes get faster on a bike I write obvious, overlooked training content that makes cycling training easy to understand.
