Plan Description

Note that there are four versions of this plan to account for regional scheduling for opposite race weekends and power-based versus Rate of Perceived Exertion (RPE) -based training. This plan will apply for regions 1/4/5. For regions 2/3/6, choose the plan titled '2024 UTHS MTB League RPE Team Training Plan June-Oct - REGIONS 2/3/6'.

This plan is written for student athletes to train by Rate of Perceived Exertion (RPE). It is based around a 1-10 RPE scale. On Day 1 of practice, you will find a document with a description of how this 1-10 scale works. There is a power-based version of this training plan available. NOTE: If you would like both power based and RPE based versions of this plan, please email me at sarah@kcyclingcoaching.com . You do not need to purchase both plans at full price. If you have one version of the plan, the additional plan will be available for $40.

This plan assumes four practice sessions per week. It is written with Mon/Weds/Thurs/Sat practices as part of the plan, with some race prerides scheduled on Fridays. Please feel free to modify the days to suit your practice schedule. In order for this schedule to appear correctly aligned with those days and to line up with your region's race schedule, apply the plan to begin on Monday, June 5th (your first full week of sanctioned practices).

This plan is written for Varsity or JVA riders who have experience training and racing and want to move to the next level with a structured, progressive plan. The plan should be modified for new riders and/or riders in Freshman and JVB-E categories, for whom the main goal is simply consistent riding. For newer riders who would still like to follow the plan, shorten the duration of rides and decrease the number of reps of intervals. For exceptionally high achieving and/or experienced Varsity riders, the plan may need to be modified to increase load via additional duration and interval reps.
