Plan Description
Are you a masters athlete that is time crunched and in need of a strong base during the winter so you can hit you're targets in the summer?
This plan is based around the training philosophy of Sweetspot training which will give you the best bang for you're buck when time crunched.
Benefits of sweetspot training over zone 2 work is
1. Increased plasma volume
2. Increased mitochondria
3. Increased muscle glycogen storage
4. Increase in FTP
5. Bigger aerobic engine
The plan is ideal for an intermediate rider who has had at least a years worth of training under their belt. Plan will be based around 6-8hrs for anyone who works a full time job and needs to get efficient training in around the turbo during the week and longer weekend rides. You will need a power meter to follow the plan.
The plan will be split into 3 blocks with 3 weeks overload and 1 week deload. It's very important to have the deload week so that you can truly adapt to the training you have done in the previous 3 weeks.
Sessions can be completed either on the road or the turbo. In the session plan it will tell you to either use ERG mode or not on the turbo to get the best out of the plan.
Once you have completed the plan we recommend moving on into more threshold and Vo2 work to move the aerobic ceiling up.
