About This Training Plan for Weekly MTB Racing


This 3-month base training plan is designed for riders who want to be fast for their local weekly 'world championships' race. This balances the intensity of mid-week racing each week with endurance and intervals.

This plan assumes you will start racing weekly races in the 2nd and 3rd block/month (or in the months after this plan finishes) but it is very flexible depending on your timing. Guidance is included to adapt the week to add in a weekly race or do weekly races on different days (Setup for Tuesday Races)



Is This Weekly "World Champ" Training Plan for You?


This plan is meant for Mountain Bikers who want to focus on weekly races rather than on a big weekend event. These series generally happen May-August so this plan would work well for March/April Start (or 1-2 months before your weekly races start)/


  • Designed for riders with limited time and training days

  • Plan suggests 3–5 days on the bike and 2 days of strength work per week

  • Weekly volume ranges from 5 to ~9 hours, with many options to scale volume up or down

  • Usable with Heart Rate, Power, or RPE (no device required)
