Plan Goal
Build the confidence and control needed to complete the Sprint Triathlon bike leg at a steady, manageable effort — so you can arrive at T2 ready to run rather than fatigued.
This 12-week Sprint Bike plan is designed for athletes who are newer to structured training or returning after time away from the bike. The focus is on developing consistency, smooth pedalling, and the ability to change effort without panic when terrain or conditions vary.
Throughout the plan, you’ll practise riding at controlled aerobic efforts, gradually introducing slightly harder work in short, manageable segments. These sessions help you become more comfortable increasing effort briefly — such as when riding out of corners, into the wind, or over small hills — and then returning to a steady rhythm.
Each workout includes clear guidance on effort and focus, helping you build confidence in pacing without needing to rely on speed alone. Over time, this improves efficiency, reduces wasted energy, and supports a smoother transition to the run.
