Cross your first 70.3 finish line feeling ready. This 12-week plan takes you from your current fitness to a confident 1.2-mile swim, 56-mile bike, and 13.1-mile run.
Who it's for: first-time and newer half-Ironman triathletes. Before you start, you should be able to swim 1500m continuously, ride 2 hours, and run 6 miles comfortably.
What you get: 6 days per week with 2 swims, 2-3 rides, 3 runs, and weekly brick sessions that teach your body to run off the bike. Every workout is fully structured with named steps and exact intensity targets (% of FTP on the bike, threshold pace for swim and run) and syncs straight to Zwift, Garmin, and your other devices. The plan builds progressively with a recovery week every 4th week, long runs building to 14 miles and rides to 3 hours, race-specific sharpening in the final block, and a full taper so you arrive rested and fast. Key sessions include coach notes on why the workout matters, how it should feel, and what to do if you miss a day - plus a full race-week checklist and pacing plan.
You're putting in the work, but something isn't clicking - same pace, a nagging injury, or a plan that doesn't fit your life. I build training around you: your fitness, your schedule, your goals. I'm Bryce Beckstrand - 15 years racing everything from 5Ks to a full Ironman, still racing, and I never ask you to do something I'm not doing too.
