Plan Description

20-Week Olympic Distance Triathlon Training Plan

This 20-week training plan is designed for beginner triathletes preparing for an Olympic distance triathlon (1.5 km swim, 40 km bike, 10 km run).

The extended timeline allows plenty of time to build fitness gradually, making it a good option for first-time triathletes or those who prefer a slower, more manageable progression. The focus is on consistency, basic endurance, and learning how to balance swim, bike, and run training without feeling overwhelmed.

You should be comfortable swimming 200–300 m, biking for 45 minutes, and running for 20–25 minutes before starting.

Training includes 5–6 sessions per week, light brick workouts, regular recovery weeks, and a short taper leading into race day. No advanced equipment is required.

By race day, you’ll be ready to complete your first Olympic distance triathlon with confidence.
