A first Full Distance Triathlon is much easier to approach when the training gives you time to grow into the distance. This 44-week Beginner triathlon training plan does exactly that, giving you a long runway to build confidence, endurance, strength, and race-specific fitness without rushing the process.
The Full Distance Triathlon Davao Philippines combines a 3.8 km swim, a predominantly flat 180 km coastal bike, and a 42.2 km run in warm, humid conditions. For a first-time athlete, the biggest priorities are consistency, pacing, fueling, and learning how to handle long-duration effort across all three disciplines.
THE FIRST 12 WEEKS: LEARN AND BUILD
Training starts at approximately 4.5 hours per week and gradually reaches about 6 hours by week 11. The emphasis is on aerobic conditioning, strength, swim technique, and basic multisport durability. Week 12 finishes with a Brick Endurance Test, giving you a clear checkpoint before the longer race-specific phase begins.
THE NEXT 32 WEEKS: PREPARE FOR DAVAO
From week 13, training begins around 7.5 hours and builds toward approximately 14 hours by week 39. The progression introduces longer endurance sessions, VO2 intervals, anaerobic threshold work, structured bike and run sessions, open-water preparation, and progressively more specific brick training.
You also have built-in windows for B and C races, giving you low-stakes opportunities to practice pacing, fueling, transitions, and race-day routines before your main event.
WHAT MAKES THIS BEGINNER-FRIENDLY
Swim technique is taught progressively through instructional drill videos.
Run sessions are guided by RPE and heart rate, helping you control effort instead of chasing arbitrary pace.
Bike sessions also use RPE and heart rate so you learn sustainable pacing for the 180 km ride.
Strength training is designed for developing triathletes, helping support durability as weekly volume rises.
For Davao, that structure matters. The course is not defined by major climbing, but heat, humidity, coastal wind, and the length of the day can expose poor pacing quickly. This plan gives you time to learn how to stay controlled, fuel consistently, and protect the run.
The plan also includes the Race Predictor Calculator, Race Pace Strategy Calculator, and Triathlon Fueling Calculator, plus personalized email coach support.
Purchase the 44-week Beginner Full Distance Triathlon training plan today and give yourself the time to build toward Davao with confidence, structure, and a clear progression from your first week to race day.
