Plan Description

The moment you begin this Full Distance Triathlon program, you’re setting yourself up for a strong, confident, and well-prepared race experience in Tours Metropole – Loire Valley. This 36-week progression builds your endurance, technique, and pacing strategy specifically for a river swim in the Cher, the fast and flat Loire Valley bike course, and the scenic run through Parc Honoré de Balzac—all leading to an unforgettable indoor finish line.

The first 12 weeks develop the essential foundation every Full Distance Triathlon athlete needs. You’ll follow structured videos and technique-focused swim drills that help you feel relaxed and efficient in moving water—perfect preparation for the calm, steady current of the Cher River. Weekly volume grows from 4.5 to 6 hours, giving you time to adapt gradually without feeling overwhelmed.

You’ll then enter the 24-week race-specific phase, where your endurance and stamina expand in sync with the demands of the Tours Metropole – Loire Valley course. Training progresses from 7.5 hours to 14.5 hours per week, targeting the aerobic strength required for a flat, fast, and scenic bike route that winds through castles and countryside roads. Strategic tempo sessions, long rides, and progressive brick workouts replicate the sustained effort needed to maintain smooth power across varied terrain.

Your long runs and race-pace intervals prepare you for the flat riverside paths along the Cher and the steady rhythm inside Parc Honoré de Balzac. Throughout the plan, your open-water swim practice, steady-state cycling, and controlled pacing work together to help you sustain form and energy all the way to that memorable indoor finish.
