Plan Description
This 20-week intermediate Ironman training plan is designed for athletes with a strong endurance base who are ready to take on the demands of full-distance racing. The program progressively builds swim, bike, and run volume while improving endurance, pacing, strength, and race-day durability through a strategic mix of structured intervals, long aerobic sessions, recovery workouts, and race-specific brick training.
Run workouts are prescribed using pace targets, while bike workouts are power-based to provide accurate training guidance and measurable progression throughout the plan. Swim sessions are instruction-based and focused on developing endurance, efficiency, and confidence for race day. A smart bike trainer is recommended for the weekday cycling sessions to maximize the effectiveness of the power-based workouts.
