This Long Distance Triathlon training plan is designed to prepare you for every challenge of the iconic Canberra course. From the 3.8 km swim in the central basin of Lake Burley Griffin to the high-speed 180 km bike course along Majura Parkway, and the fast, spectator-friendly 42 km run finishing in front of Old Parliament House, every session in this plan has a purpose.

🏊 Swim Mastery: The 12-week foundational phase develops your swimming technique and endurance, ensuring you tackle the staggered start confidently and maintain efficiency across long distances in open water.

🚴 Bike Performance: Our plan builds cycling strength and speed to match the demands of the Canberra course. With targeted workouts simulating climbs like Tuggeranong Parkway and fast, flat stretches, you’ll gain the power to maintain high speeds on aero bikes and handle multiple ascents with ease.

🏃 Run Endurance: Designed around the 4-lap, 10.5 km loop of the race, our plan improves pace, stamina, and race-day resilience. Progressive long runs and tempo sessions replicate race conditions, helping you sustain energy for a strong finish on the lawns of John Dunmore Lang Place.
