This Long Distance Triathlon Almere-Amsterdam Training Plan is meticulously designed to prepare you for every unique challenge of this iconic race. The course demands not just endurance but smart pacing, technical skill, and mental resilience—qualities this 44-week plan builds progressively and comprehensively.

🏊 Swim Preparation: The race’s 3.8 km swim in Weerwater Lake requires sustained strength and efficient technique to handle two counterclockwise laps in fresh water. Our plan’s 12-week base phase emphasizes swim technique enhancement with targeted drills and open-water sessions, ensuring you build confidence and endurance to master the swim course and smoothly transition at Lumierepark.

🚴 Bike Conditioning: The 180 km bike course is flat but fast, featuring long stretches along dikes with exposure to wind and scenic views of the Oostvaardersplassen wildlife reserve. Our training includes structured bike sessions focusing on power, pacing, and handling wind resistance, plus progressive brick workouts that simulate race day fatigue. This approach strengthens your legs and sharpens your ability to maintain high speeds on flat polder terrain.

🏃 Run Endurance: The 42.2 km run around Weerwater Lake involves four laps plus start and finish segments, demanding consistent pacing and mental toughness. The plan’s run phase integrates VO2 interval training, threshold workouts, and AI video analysis to fine-tune your gait and maximize efficiency. Tailored strength sessions complement your run training to prevent injury and boost stamina for a strong finish on the Esplanade.
