Plan Description
This 36-week beginner Long Distance Triathlon training plan is expertly designed to prepare you for the challenging and unforgettable course of the Québec Canada Long Distance Triathlon. From the calm waters of Bassin Louise to the rolling hills along the St. Lawrence River and the historic streets of Old Québec, every session in this plan targets the specific demands of race day.
✅ 12-Week Base Phase
Develop solid technique and confidence in open water with guided swim drills and expert video tutorials. This early phase builds foundational fitness to handle Québec’s 3.8 km swim, surrounded by yachts and history.
✅ Progressive Load
Start with 4.5 hours of weekly training and advance to 6+ hours in the base phase. During the 24-week build, volume increases to 14.5 hours per week, developing the endurance required for the 180 km bike course and 42.2 km marathon through Québec City.
✅ Course-Specific Conditioning
Targeted brick workouts prepare your legs for the hilly, 1,200m elevation gain on the bike and the run through undulating urban terrain—including iconic sites like Château Frontenac and the Plains of Abraham.
