This 36-week Full Distance Triathlon training plan is expertly crafted for Masters athletes (ages 40+) targeting peak performance at one of Asia’s most stunning endurance races—the Full Distance Triathlon Taiwan. From the calm, clear waters of Flowing Lake to the rolling coastline of Highway 11 and the humid, spectator-lined streets of Taitung, this plan prepares you for every challenge you’ll face on race day.
🏊 Swim-Ready from Day One
The two-lap swim in Flowing Lake demands technical efficiency and pacing. This plan enhances your stroke mechanics, open-water comfort, and swim durability, so you enter T1 confident and composed. Early-season proprioceptive drills and progressive swim volume ensure you're race-day ready—even under Taiwan's warm, humid conditions.
🚴 Dialed-In for Coastal Riding
The 180 km ride on Highway 11 brings wind, sun, and rolling terrain. Your bike sessions are structured around functional threshold power (FTP) and heart rate zones, preparing you for the 1,200 meters of elevation gain while building fatigue resistance. Long rides, tempo efforts, and wind-resistance simulation are baked in to mimic Taiwan’s coastal conditions.
🏃 Run Strong in the Heat
The four-lap run course is flat but deceptively tough, thanks to the humidity and heat. This plan includes heat adaptation strategies, hydration protocols, and threshold-paced long runs to help you thrive on race day. You'll train with purpose using RPE, HRV, and lactate threshold intervals, fine-tuned to help you sustain pace through every kilometer.
