Plan Description
Ready to race the Full Distance Triathlon in Western Australia and want a plan that actually prepares you for race day? This six-month training plan for Competitive Masters 40+ is tailored to build the strength, endurance, and mindset needed to thrive on the Busselton course.
🏊 Swim (3.8KM): The plan includes weekly open water swim sessions and progressive endurance workouts to prepare you for the two-lap course off the Busselton Foreshore. You’ll build confidence navigating entry/exit transitions and maintaining rhythm—essential for handling the short beach run between laps.
🚴 Bike (180KM): Featuring long tempo rides and power-based intervals, this plan prepares you for the fast, flat coastal ride and the stretches through the Tuart Forest. You’ll develop the steady-state power and bike-handling skills needed to stay aero and fast—even when conditions shift.
🏃 Run (42.2KM): With four laps along the scenic Busselton Jetty, pacing is everything. Brick sessions and progressive long runs help train your legs to run strong off the bike, while also sharpening your mental game to stay steady and finish strong through each lap.
⚠️ Prerequisite Training Required
Before beginning this plan, it’s essential that you’ve completed 10–12 weeks of base aerobic conditioning. This foundation ensures your body is ready to safely absorb the plan’s structured progression. The program kicks off with VO2 training in week one to build speed and efficiency from the start.
