This race demands endurance, strength, and mental toughness across a challenging swim, bike, and run course. Our Competitive Masters 44-Week Full Distance Triathlon Training Plan is designed specifically to prepare you for every aspect of this epic event.

How This Training Plan Prepares You for the Full Distance Triathlon Switzerland-Thun:

🏊‍♂️ Swim Preparation: The plan builds your endurance and technique to master the 3.8 km swim in Lake Thun’s calm, clear glacial waters. Video-guided swimming drills improve stroke efficiency and breathing—essential for handling the two-loop swim with an Australian exit. Training adapts to suit wetsuit conditions common in late summer temperatures (18–22°C).

🚴‍♂️ Bike Readiness: The 180 km bike course around Thun features rolling hills, technical descents, and roughly 2,000 meters of climbing. Structured, power- and heart rate-based bike workouts simulate race demands, developing your climbing strength, technical skills, and sustained power to tackle multiple loops and varying terrain.

🏃‍♂️ Run Conditioning: The 42.2 km run loops lakeside and through Thun, mostly flat but requiring endurance and mental focus. The plan’s run sessions mix pavement and gravel surfaces, incorporating progressive load training and multiple aid station pacing strategies to keep you strong and steady to the finish line.
