Tackling the Full Distance Triathlon in Tallinn means preparing for a 3.8 km freshwater lake swim, a 180 km bike ride through scenic yet wind-exposed countryside, and a marathon weaving through cobblestone streets and historic neighborhoods. This 44-week Full Distance Triathlon training plan for beginners is built specifically to prepare you—step by step—for every challenge Tallinn offers.
The first 12 weeks focus on developing a solid endurance base with strength and conditioning workouts that support your swim, bike, and run progression. These early sessions help you adapt to longer durations while minimizing injury risk—critical for sustaining effort across all three disciplines.
From week 13 onward, the training intensity ramps up gradually. Swim sessions are tailored to mimic the calm, open-water conditions of Lake Harku while progressively building your comfort and efficiency in long, continuous efforts.
