Plan Description

Preparing for the Full Distance Triathlon Leeds means being ready for a demanding course:

🏊 Swim – 3.8 km of steady effort in Waterloo Lake, two non-stop laps.

🚴 Bike – 180 km across undulating Yorkshire terrain, including steep sections like Black Hill Road.

🏃 Run – A marathon with four laps around Roundhay Park, featuring ~455 m of climbing and technical pacing demands.

This 24-week Full Distance Triathlon training plan is built for athletes 40+ who are experienced, focused, and ready to step up. Whether you’re eyeing a personal best or simply aiming to finish strong, this structured approach will help you train effectively for the Leeds race day.

✅ Course-Specific Endurance Development: Gradually build volume and stamina to sustain effort across the hilly 180 km bike and challenging run course.

✅ Open Water Swim Preparedness: Frequent race-pace and technique-focused sets prepare you for the continuous 3.8 km swim with no exit breaks.

✅ Climbing & Descending on the Bike: Intervals and long rides build power and confidence for the undulating loops north of Leeds.

✅ Run Durability & Pacing: Brick workouts and progressive long runs teach your body to handle fatigue and pace effectively over four laps.
