Train Smarter for the Full Distance Triathlon in Lake Placid - This 36-week periodized training plan is specifically tailored for competitive Masters athletes (40+) aiming to race confidently through Mirror Lake, the Adirondack hills, and the River Road marathon.

🏊‍♂️ Swim: With a 2.4-mile, two-loop swim in the calm waters of Mirror Lake, athletes benefit from clear sightlines and an underwater cable that aids navigation. This plan enhances stroke mechanics and hydrodynamic efficiency through proprioceptive drills and neuromuscular conditioning, ensuring you conserve energy while navigating the course efficiently.

🚴‍♂️ Bike: The 112-mile ride includes nearly 8,000 feet of climbing—Keene Descent, the notorious “Papa Bear Hill,” and constant elevation changes demand strength, endurance, and control. This program progressively builds aerobic capacity, FTP, and muscular resilience. Power-based intervals are calibrated with critical power and heart rate data to simulate the course’s toughest sections.

🏃‍♂️ Run: The final 26.2-mile marathon features rolling hills and the mental grind of two loops through Lake Placid Village and River Road. Through tempo runs, hill repeats, and lactate threshold development, the plan builds run durability to help you maintain pace through fatigue, even in cool July conditions.
