The Full Distance Triathlon New Zealand in Taupō is a race like no other—second only to Kona in legacy. You’ll swim 3.8km in the clear waters of Lake Taupō (avg. 65°F/18°C), ride 180km through rolling countryside, and run a scenic 42.2km along the lakefront, often in ideal race-day temps near 74°F (23°C). With passionate local support and a breathtaking course, this is a bucket-list race for many senior athletes.

This science-backed training plan is built specifically for triathletes aged 60+ who are ready to train smart, avoid injury, and perform their best in Taupō. It combines progressive endurance work, targeted strength training, and structured recovery, all tailored to the needs of the senior athlete.
