Get ready to take on the Full Distance Triathlon New Zealand with a purpose-built, six-month training plan designed for competitive Masters athletes (40+).

Why This Plan Works
Tailored for Masters Athletes (40+)
Specifically crafted for experienced triathletes, this program focuses on building durability, strength, and race-day confidence.

Progressive, Structured Training
Follows a proven 3:1 cycle—three weeks of progressive overload followed by one week of recovery—to maximize gains and prevent burnout.

Data-Driven Workouts
Every session uses heart rate, power zones, or RPE to ensure precision and effectiveness.

Fully Syncable
Workouts can be synced to Garmin and compatible devices—ditch the spreadsheets and train smarter.

Training Breakdown (24 Weeks)
Starting at 8 hrs/week, peaking at 16 hrs/week

Swim: 88 sessions (34+ hours) focused on technique and endurance for Lake Taupō’s 3.8km course.

Bike: 88 workouts (129+ hours) using power-based intervals for long-haul efficiency across rural terrain.

Run: 70 sessions (61+ hours) designed for pacing, form, and resilience on the scenic 42.2km course.

Strength: 38 workouts (25+ hours) tailored for injury prevention and masters-specific power.

How It Prepares You for Race Day
Swim – Lake Taupō Ready
Refine technique, improve sighting, and build endurance for the 19°C deep-water start and clockwise course. Stroke drills and aerobic sets mirror race conditions.

Bike – Power for the Rolling Course
Develop power and stamina to handle two laps through Taupō’s countryside. Long rides and bricks simulate sustained effort on roads like Broadlands and Vaile.

Run – Strong Finish Through Town
Train for a four-lap run with pacing strategies and brick workouts that prepare you for the mental and physical demands of the final 42.2km.
