# Premium 32 Week Intermediate IRONMAN Wales Training Plan - 2026
IRONMAN Wales rewards strength, patience, smart pacing and consistency. This course-specific 32-week plan is for intermediate athletes who want a clear route from steady training to the Tenby start line, with every phase built around the demands of the race.
It is written in the way we coach at TCC Endurance: practical, progressive and honest. The focus is consistent work with a clear purpose, sensible recovery and race-specific preparation, rather than chasing isolated hero sessions.
## Who this plan is for
- Intermediate triathletes preparing specifically for IRONMAN Wales.
- Athletes who can currently swim for 45-60 minutes, ride for 2 hours and run for 75 minutes.
- Busy athletes able to train from approximately 7.5 hours per week, building to a peak of approximately 15.5 hours.
- Athletes comfortable using bike power, run heart rate and swim pace or RPE to guide training.
## Built for the demands of Tenby
The plan develops the strength and durability needed for the Welsh course, including:
- Progressive climbing strength and controlled power for the rolling, technical bike course.
- Run durability and pacing discipline for repeated climbs through Tenby.
- Open-water confidence, swim efficiency and race-start control.
- Long-course fuelling, hydration and pacing practice.
- Brick sessions, race rehearsals and a progressive taper into race week.
## Structured workouts that guide every session
Swim, bike and run sessions are built as TrainingPeaks Structured Workouts. They can sync to compatible watches, bike computers and training platforms such as Garmin, Wahoo, Zwift and TrainingPeaks Virtual, guiding you through each interval in real time where supported.
Swim sessions use clear distance repeats in pool-friendly multiples of 25, with timed recoveries and simple intensity targets. Bike and run sessions include the exact duration, intensity and recovery for every interval, so you always know what to do next.
