Training for the Full Distance Triathlon California means preparing for a fast river swim, a flat and speedy bike course, and a run past Sacramento’s most iconic sights. Our 36-week Full Distance Triathlon Training Plan is built specifically to help intermediate triathletes succeed on this course — whether you're chasing your first finish or a new personal best.

✅ Swim-Ready from Day One
Train confidently for the 2.4-mile point-to-point swim in the American and Sacramento Rivers. Early swim sessions focus on technique and endurance, with video drills designed to help you navigate currents and swim straight in open water — just like the California course demands.

🚴 Bike Strong on a Fast Course
The 112-mile bike through Sacramento’s flat farmland is perfect for holding steady power. Our plan features progressive bike intervals and Heart Rate/Power-based sessions that simulate race-day pacing, so you'll be prepared to ride strong from start to finish.

🏃 Run Ready for the California Flatlands
Build the endurance needed to thrive on the scenic, flat, and spectator-packed 26.2-mile run along the Sacramento River. From tempo runs to brick workouts and anaerobic threshold training, you'll gain the strength and mental resilience to finish strong.
