Plan Description

The Full Distance Triathlon Wales in Pembrokeshire offers athletes a challenging and memorable experience across its swim, bike, and run courses.

Swim: Athletes begin with a two-loop, 2.4-mile (3.8 km) swim starting at Tenby's iconic North Beach. The course features a unique Australian exit, where participants briefly leave the water between loops before re-entering. The average water temperature is 63ยฐF (17ยฐC).

Bike: The 112-mile (180.2 km) bike course consists of two hilly loops through the scenic Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. Cyclists will pass by numerous castles and iconic landmarks, including locations featured in Harry Potter films.

Run: The marathon-distance (26.2 miles or 42.2 km) run is divided into four hilly loops. Runners navigate through Tenby's medieval town walls and along its picturesque beachfront, with tens of thousands of spectators cheering them on. The average air temperature on race day is 61ยฐF (16ยฐC).

But before you dive in, a word of caution: Prerequisite training or base mileage is non-negotiable. This is not a plan for beginners. We repeat, ATTEMPT this program only after having first developed your base Aerobic System. Our Full DIST plan kicks off with a challenging 25-minute Anaerobic Threshold Interval Training session in week one. Are you up for the challenge? During this 24-week journey, you'll gradually ramp up your training from just under 10.5hrs in the first week to a peak of approximately 18hrs per week.
