Full Distance Triathlon Canada-Ottawa: Course Details and Highlights
The race begins with a 2-loop, 3.8 km (2.4-mile) swim in the scenic Ottawa River. Starting from Britannia Park, athletes navigate calm waters averaging 70°F (21°C) in temperature, ideal for a smooth start.
Following the swim, athletes embark on a 180 km (112-mile) bike ride featuring 2.75 loops through Ottawa’s picturesque landscapes. This closed-to-traffic route offers smooth roads and mild elevation, allowing athletes to enjoy iconic landmarks, including Embassy Row, and peaceful eastern landscapes.
The final stretch, a 42.2 km (26.2-mile) flat marathon, takes athletes through the bustling heart of Ottawa, with robust spectator support. This city-centered run adds excitement and energy to the event as competitors near the finish line, set against the iconic Parliament of Canada. Expect race day air temperatures around 78°F (26°C).
About The SIX-MONTH ADVANCED Full DIST Plan

But before you dive in, a word of caution: Prerequisite training or base mileage is non-negotiable. This is not a plan for beginners. We repeat, ATTEMPT this program only after having first developed your base Aerobic System. Our Full DIST plan kicks off with a challenging 25-minute Anaerobic Threshold Interval Training session in week one. Are you up for the challenge? During this 24-week journey, you'll gradually ramp up your training from just under 10.5hrs in the first week to a peak of approximately 18hrs per week. That's dedication!
