Plan Description

Our 36-week triathlon training plan is designed to prepare you for every aspect of the Full Distance Leeds Triathlon, helping you train efficiently, reduce injury risk, and arrive at the start line confident and strong.

🏊 Swim – 3.8 km in Waterloo Lake
You’ll build swim endurance and technique over two laps in calm, open water. Our plan starts with a 12-week foundation phase that includes guided video swim drills to improve form, breathing, and body positioning. You’ll progress from pool workouts to open water simulations, preparing you for the continuous 3.8 km swim.

🚴 Bike – 180 km with 2,574 m of climbing
The Leeds bike course features three hilly laps with notable climbs, especially on Black Hill Road. Our training plan gradually builds cycling volume and power, targeting undulating terrain and sustained climbs. Interval repeats, endurance rides, and structured brick workouts will prepare your legs to stay strong across all 180 km.

🏃 Run – 42.2 km with 455 m elevation
The marathon route loops four times through Roundhay Park and Millennium Square. You’ll train with tempo runs, long endurance runs, and terrain-specific workouts to master both pacing and mental focus. The goal: a strong, consistent run off the bike.
