Plan Description

Full Distance Triathlon Lake Placid, set in the scenic Adirondack Mountains of New York, is one of the most iconic full-distance triathlons.

Swim (2.4 miles): Athletes start with a swim in Mirror Lake, following a well-marked, two-loop course. The calm, clear water and optional wetsuits ensure a strong beginning. With an average water temperature of 72ยฐF (22ยฐC) in July, wetsuits are typically optional but widely used.

Bike (112 miles): The bike leg is two loops through the hilly Adirondacks, featuring nearly 8,000 feet of elevation gain and key points like the "Keene Descent" and "Papa Bear Hill." Strategic pacing is essential.

Run (26.2 miles): Athletes finish with a hilly marathon through Lake Placid Village and along River Road. The cool weather and spectator support help, but the elevation changes add to the challenge.

About the 36-WK FULL DIST ADVANCED TRIATHLON PLAN
