Train Smarter for Full Distance Triathlon Frankfurt

This 44-week Full Distance Triathlon Beginner Training Plan is specifically designed to prepare you for the unique demands of Frankfurt’s course: a calm lake swim, fast but technical bike sections, and a flat, energetic run along the Main River.

This plan builds from the ground up with a clear two-phase structure:

✅ Phase 1 – 12-Week Base Phase
Establish foundational endurance while focusing on:

🏊 Efficient swim form and open-water skills

🏃 Run technique and low-intensity aerobic development

💪 Strength sessions to support injury prevention and muscular balance

🚴 Gradual bike volume and cadence control

✅ Phase 2 – 32-Week Full Distance Triathlon Specific Phase
Train progressively from 7.5 to 14 hours per week, carefully targeting:

🚴 Frankfurt’s bike demands with terrain-specific intervals and longer sustained rides

🏃 Pacing strategies for flat, fast running under race conditions

🏊 Race-day swim simulation and Australian exit practice

🔁 Brick sessions that mirror Frankfurt’s race-day rhythm

Throughout the program, your training adapts as your fitness improves. VO₂ intervals and anaerobic threshold sessions are introduced thoughtfully, helping you develop the strength and stamina to handle Frankfurt’s fast sections and mid-course climbs.
