Full Distance Triathlon Texas Training Plan – Train Smarter, Race Stronger in The Woodlands

If you're racing the Full Distance Triathlon Texas in The Woodlands — the North American Championship — then preparation isn’t optional. It’s essential. With a 2.4-mile swim in Lake Woodlands, a blazing-fast 112-mile bike course on the Hardy Toll Road, and a crowd-charged 26.2-mile run through Hippie Hollow and Waterway Ave, this race demands more than just endurance. It calls for a plan built for the heat, the wind, and the mental grind.

Introducing the 44-Week Full Distance Triathlon Beginner Training Plan — crafted for triathletes like you who are ready to commit and conquer.

We begin with a focused 12-week base phase that builds strength, foundational endurance, and swimming efficiency. You’ll start at 4.5 hours per week, progressing to 6 hours by week 11 — culminating with a Brick Endurance Test in week 12. This phase is about more than fitness — it sets the technical foundation to avoid injury and thrive under race-day stress.

From Week 13 onward, the real work begins. You’ll move into a structured 32-week build phase that ramps gradually from 7.5 to 14 hours per week, aligning with your schedule and recovery needs. Thoughtfully designed to prepare you for warm, exposed conditions, this plan integrates:
