๐๐ด๐ Are you ready to take on the challenge of the Full Distance Triathlon South Africa? Whether you're a first-time triathlete or looking to enhance your performance, our Six (6) Month Full Distance Triathlon Training Plan is designed to help you conquer the course with confidence.
Why This Training Plan Will Help You Succeed:
Our plan follows a carefully structured approach, combining key principles of triathlon training with smart recovery phases. This ensures you're building endurance and strength while avoiding burnout. Hereโs how our plan can take your triathlon performance to the next level:
Prerequisite Training Required: Before starting this plan, you should have a basic fitness foundation. Ideally, you should be able to swim 2.5 kilometers, cycle at least 45 miles, and run continuously for 60 minutes. If you meet these prerequisites, youโre ready to dive in!
Training Structure: We follow a 3/1 training structure โ three weeks of intense training followed by one week of active recovery. This approach keeps your body fresh, optimizes progress, and prevents overtraining. Each week, you'll gradually increase your training load, peaking at 14 hours per week, starting from 7.5 hours in the first week.
Focused Phases to Build Strength and Endurance:
Phase 1: Build strength and enhance your base endurance.
Phase 2: Focus on refining your technique, including swim drills, running form, and cycling efficiency.
Phase 3: Peak performance prep, with race simulations and tapering strategies leading up to the big day.
