Plan Description

FULL DIST South Africa triathlon, a race that pulses with South African spirit.

Swim (3.8 km / 2.4 miles): Athletes start at Hobie Beach, swim parallel to the shoreline past Humewood Beach to Kings Beach, and then return to Hobie Beach.

Bike (180 km / 112 miles): This two-loop course starts at Hobie Beach and follows Marine Drive. It ascends through the city to Mount Pleasant, then continues through Seaview, Beachview, and Maitlandโ€™s to the De Stades River Valley turnaround. The return journey includes ocean views and passes through Skoenmakerskop before reaching Hobie Beach to either begin a second lap or transition to the run.

Run (42.2 km / 26.2 miles): This four-loop course circles Transition, follows the pedestrian pathway to Humewood, crosses the IRONMAN bridge, goes through Happy Valley, and heads along Marine Drive towards Humerail. After completing the distance, athletes return to Happy Valley, cross the bridge again, and finish on the red carpet at Hobie Beach.

Prerequisite Training Required: Before starting our SIX (6) MONTH Full DIST training plan, you should have a basic fitness foundation. Ensure you can swim 2.5 kilometers, cycle at least 45 miles, and run continuously for 60 minutes.

Structured Approach: Our training plan follows a 3/1 structure, balancing three weeks of focused training with one week of active recovery. It's the perfect blend to push your limits while preventing burnout.

Focused Training Phases: In the initial stages, you'll concentrate on building strength, enhancing base endurance, and perfecting your swim technique. Dive into our swim training segments with detailed instructions, including an introduction to V02 Interval Training. Start with 7.5 hours of training in your first week, gradually ramping up to a maximum of 14 hours per week.
