Plan Description

In this training plan, British Triathlon High Performing Coach and IRONMAN Certified Coach Simon Olney will help you achieve your dream of becoming an Ironman.


We focus on building our aerobic fitness and baseline strength, as these are the foundations of injury free Ironman racing. We will include some intensity in the plan, but not as much as you may be accustomed to from training for other events. This plan isn't about going under 10 hours, it's about finishing with a smile on your face.


I have written this plan with the dedicated athlete in mind who wants to do themselves justice on the course, putting in a time they are proud of, rather than the bare minimum to finish.


To follow this plan you will require:
A road bike or triathlon bike
Access to a pool
A turbo trainer (could be substituted for quiet roads)
Running shoes and suitable trails/roads for running
A wrist watch which displays heart rate
