Plan Description

The Half Distance Triathlon Los Cabos is not forgiving. Warm, non-wetsuit water. A rolling, exposed bike course. A hot, dry run that punishes poor pacing. This 24-week Half Distance Triathlon training plan is built so you arrive prepared for exactly those demands—not guessing, not reacting.

⚠️ Prerequisite Training Required
Before you begin, you need an established aerobic base. This plan starts at 9 hours in week one and quickly introduces anaerobic threshold and VO2 max work. If you are ready for that level, this is where performance is built.

Swim: Control in Warm Open Water
You will train for efficiency to be prepared for the swim in Palmilla Bay. Technique work, structured intervals, and open water sessions prepare you to hold pace without wetsuit assistance.

Bike: Power Over Rolling Terrain
You will build the strength to handle elevation changes and maintain speed on the Transpeninsular Highway. Power-based intervals and long progressive rides develop sustained output under load.

Run: Execute Under Heat and Fatigue
You will train your body to run efficiently off the bike in high temperatures. Brick sessions and endurance progression improve durability, pacing, and late-race control.
