Designed specifically for competitive Masters athletes over 40, this six-month Half Distance Triathlon Training Plan provides the structure, progression, and confidence you need to excel on race day. The 1.9 km swim in Ulibarri-Gamboa lake calls for steady pacing and efficient technique in flat, calm waters. This plan integrates focused swim drills and open-water simulation sessions to improve form, rhythm, and confidence for the single-loop swim.
The 90 km bike course features smooth roads, rolling gradients, and a section of the historic Camino de Santiago. With 500m of total elevation, it requires strong endurance, steady power output, and efficient climbing. Structured bike workouts with heart rate and power targets build the durability to hold pace while conserving energy for the run.
The 21 km run through downtown Vitoria-Gasteiz is fast, flat, and fueled by the energy of thousands of supporters. With only 240m of elevation, it rewards consistent pacing and well-developed speed endurance. The run sessions in this program transition from aerobic base building to threshold and race-pace work, ensuring you finish strong at the iconic Plaza España.
