Plan Description

The Half Distance Triathlon in Vitoria-Gasteiz is one of Europe’s most breathtaking races, and your training should be just as purposeful as the course itself. This 24-week triathlon training plan is built to prepare you for the flat but technical swim in Ulibarri-Gamboa Lake, the rolling 90 km bike loop through Álava’s scenic countryside, and the flat, fast two-loop run through the heart of downtown Vitoria-Gasteiz, finishing at the historic Plaza España. Every workout is structured to help you perform at your best on race day.

⚠️ Prerequisite Base Training Required: Start with a solid aerobic foundation before diving in. Week one begins with 9 hours of structured training and gradually builds to a peak of 14.5 hours in week 19.

⏰ Smart Structure for Progression: Using a proven 3:1 cycle (three weeks focused training, one week active recovery), the plan builds endurance, speed, and efficiency while preventing overtraining.

📊 Data-Driven Precision: Every session is guided by power and heart-rate targets. Sync with your Garmin or compatible device to track progress seamlessly.
