This 44-week triathlon training plan is designed to prepare senior athletes for the unique challenges of the Middle Distance Triathlon Barcelona Spain, helping you race with strength, endurance, and confidence. Every phase is tailored to your needs, ensuring you arrive on race day ready for the calm Mediterranean swim, the flat-yet-fast coastal ride, and the energetic, seaside run.

✅ Open-Water Swim Confidence – Progressive 1.9 km swim training builds endurance for the single-loop course at Mar Bella Beach, with drills to refine technique, breathing rhythm, and efficiency in potentially non-wetsuit-legal conditions.

✅ Cycling Strength for Coastal Speed – Specific interval work and sustained tempo rides simulate the 88 km bike leg’s N-II highway sections, with practice for handling the short Cabrera de Mar climb and maintaining steady output in aero position.

✅ Run Endurance on Flat Terrain – Three-lap run sessions mirror Barcelona’s promenade course, helping you sustain pace, manage heat, and perform under the boost of crowd support.

✅ Age-Specific Conditioning – Resistance and mobility training preserve muscle mass, bone density, and joint health—essential for senior triathletes aiming for peak performance.
