Prepare to race your best on the stunning but challenging Sanremo course with a proven, science-based Middle Distance Triathlon training plan designed for competitive Masters athletes over 40. This 36-week program builds the endurance, climbing power, and race-day efficiency needed to thrive on the Ligurian coast.
Sanremo’s 1.9 km open-water swim in the clear Ligurian Sea calls for excellent sighting skills, strong aerobic capacity, and the ability to hold form in saltwater. Our plan integrates structured pool and open-water sessions with targeted drills to enhance stroke efficiency and breathing rhythm—perfect for this single-lap swim.
The 90 km bike leg features a 17 km climb to Passo Ghimbegna (~1,500 m gain) and a technical descent through Bajardo and the Poggio di Sanremo. You’ll be ready with progressive hill repeats, sustained threshold efforts, and bike-handling drills that mimic race demands.
The flat 21.1 km coastal run along the Sanremo–Ospedaletti pathway, including the Capo Nero tunnel, requires steady pacing, mental focus, and sustained speed. Our run training develops strong tempo endurance, sharpens race-pace control, and includes brick sessions to transition seamlessly off the bike.
