The Middle Distance Triathlon in Almere-Amsterdam is a race built for speed—flat, fast, and exposed. From the calm but open waters of the Weerwater lake, to the wind-swept dike roads, to the smooth, flat run through the heart of Almere, this course rewards precision, resilience, and smart pacing. Our Intermediate 24-Week Middle Distance Triathlon Training Plan is designed to prepare you for every challenge this race throws at you.
✅ Race-Specific Swim Preparation – Master open water navigation with targeted drills and endurance sets to replicate the 1.9 km single-lap Weerwater course. Gain confidence in sheltered yet broad waters, practicing sighting skills to nail a direct line to T1.
✅ Bike Power for the Dike – Build sustained speed for Almere’s 94 km fast tarmac while preparing for the constant wind exposure. Structured power-based intervals and long tempo rides replicate the rhythm of this flat, aerodynamic course.
