The Middle Distance Triathlon in Montréal offers a fast, iconic course — from the calm, clear waters of the Olympic Basin, to the spectator-filled Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve bike laps, to the flat, scenic half-marathon run. This six-month training plan is designed to prepare you for every challenge and advantage this course presents.
✅ Built for Beginners – Perfect for athletes stepping up to the Middle Distance Triathlon, with progressive workouts that match the demands of Montréal’s swim, bike, and run. A solid 4–6 week aerobic base is recommended before starting.
✅ Swim Preparedness – Master open-water pacing and sighting skills to thrive in the calm Olympic Basin. Drills focus on technique, breathing control, and sustained effort for the 1.9 km swim leg.
✅ Bike-Specific Training – Develop sustained power for Montréal’s 90 km, 21-lap F1 circuit while practicing legal drafting-zone awareness. Structured intervals improve speed, aerodynamics, and cornering for a smooth ride on the technical yet fast course.
✅ Run Endurance & Pacing – Build strength and resilience for the 21.1 km flat run along the Olympic site. Learn to lock into an efficient, steady pace that can carry you through all 4½ laps to a strong finish.
✅ Comprehensive Approach – Includes strength training, base endurance, and targeted tempo sessions. RPE- and heart-rate–based workouts ensure personalized progression.
