Plan Description

The Middle Distance Triathlon in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, is a race that blends history, beauty, and challenge. With a 1.9 km single-lap swim in pure mountain water at one of the world’s largest rowing centers, an 88 km rolling bike through Silk Road Samarkand’s modern boulevards and iconic landmarks like the Registan Ensemble, and a flat but fast 21.5 km run inside the tourist complex, this course demands strength, endurance, and precise pacing.

Our 36-week Intermediate Middle Distance Triathlon Training Plan is designed to prepare you for every detail of this race — from the calm yet cold open-water swim to the sustained power needed for the bike’s rolling terrain, to the mental focus of a multi-lap run in a world-class venue.

✅ Course-Specific Swim Prep – Build open-water confidence, sighting skills, and pacing control to handle the long, uninterrupted 1.9 km lake swim.
✅ Bike Strength & Endurance – Train for steady rolling climbs and sustained flats with targeted power-based sessions, mimicking the rhythm changes you’ll face as you ride past ancient monuments and into scenic countryside.
✅ Run Efficiency & Speed – Four-lap course simulation workouts to sharpen pacing strategy, mental discipline, and nutrition timing for the 21.5 km finish.
✅ Smart Periodization – 12-week base phase followed by 24 weeks of race-specific training, peaking at ~12 hours per week, with a proven 3-weeks-on / 1-week-recovery cycle.
✅ Integrated Brick Workouts – Progressive bike-to-run sessions replicate Samarkand’s bike course effort into fast, flat run legs.
✅ Strength & Conditioning – Injury-prevention exercises and core work to sustain form over long hours of racing.
