This 36-week Middle Distance Triathlon training plan is expertly crafted to prepare you for every element of this exciting race, supporting senior triathletes 60+ to train effectively and race with confidence.

🏊‍♂️ Swim Preparation: The course’s single-lap 1.9 km swim in the Aura River features an upstream start followed by a downstream finish near the “Fori” ferry. Our training plan includes video-based swim drills tailored to improve your technique and endurance, helping you handle the rolling start and maintain efficiency against river currents. This focus ensures you conserve energy for the demanding bike and run segments.

🚴‍♀️ Bike Readiness: The 90 km bike leg of the Middle Distance Triathlon Turku consists of three loops through city streets, countryside, and the E18 highway’s inner lanes separated by cones. The plan incorporates brick workouts and threshold bike sessions to simulate these varied conditions, building your power and stamina for repeated loops and highway riding, while sharpening your ability to maintain focus amid traffic proximity and course dynamics.

🏃‍♂️ Run Performance: The 21.1 km run involves four spectator-friendly laps along the riverbanks, finishing in Varvintori Square.
