Plan Description

Get ready to race strong at the Half Distance Triathlon Dallas–Little Elm with a six-month beginner-friendly plan designed specifically for this course’s unique swim, bike, and run demands. Whether you're new to triathlon or stepping up in distance, this structured approach sets you up for success—starting with a required 4–6 weeks of aerobic base training to ensure you're ready to train with purpose.

🏊 Swim Preparedness for Lewisville Lake
The one-loop swim at Little Elm Beach is likely wetsuit-legal, with temps ranging from 58°F–71°F in March. You’ll build comfort in open water with structured workouts, form-focused drills, and open-water simulations that mimic race conditions—so you feel confident on race day.

🚴 Bike Training for Fast Rural Roads
The 56-mile bike course is fast, flat, and chip-seal-free—rare for Texas. This plan develops your aerobic engine early and introduces tempo rides and interval work to build strength for the gentle rolling terrain. You’ll practice race pacing and efficient transitions with brick workouts built into the schedule.

🏃 Run Workouts for Crushed Gravel Trails
The three-loop 13.9-mile run course follows the smooth, well-maintained trails of the Little Elm system. Training includes progressive long runs, interval sessions, and race-day simulations to help you maintain steady pacing and run efficiently across all loops.
