Middle Distance Triathlon St. Pölten Austria Training Plan for Senior Triathletes 60+

Build Endurance, Maintain Strength, and Race Confidently on One of Europe’s Most Unique Courses

This 24-week Middle Distance Triathlon training plan is designed to prepare senior triathletes (60+) for the distinctive demands of the St. Pölten Austria course—from its split-lake swim to its alpine bike ride and riverside run.

Your race begins with a 1.9 km split-lake swim, transitioning between Viehofner and Ratzersdorfer See. Our plan includes 💧 video-based swim drills and structured endurance sets to boost confidence and efficiency across both legs of this unique swim format. You’ll practice controlled pacing and quick transitions—key to handling the land crossing without fatigue.

The 90 km bike course features a mix of flat motorway sections, rolling alpine hills, and 1,000 meters of elevation. We prepare you with ⛰️ progressive long rides, 🛠️ power-based workouts, and 🏋️ strength sessions to support climbing ability and safe, controlled descents. Smart progression minimizes joint stress while maximizing output.

The 21.1 km run is flat and fast, looping through shaded river trails and city streets with crowd support. 🏃‍♂️ Our plan incorporates threshold runs, brick workouts, and neuromuscular drills to build the durability needed to finish strong under fatigue—especially in the race’s final stretch toward the red carpet.
