Plan Description

This 36-week Half Distance Triathlon training plan for Masters 40+ is built specifically for athletes targeting the demanding and historic course of the Gallipoli Middle Distance Triathlon. With structured progression, science-backed sessions, and a focus on durability and performance, this plan prepares you for every element of the course—from the calm waters off the Old Gendarmerie Pier to the steep climbs of Conkbayiri Hill and the scenic, historic coastal run at ANZAC Cove.

✅ Open-Water Swim Readiness
You’ll build endurance and confidence with integrated swim workouts that simulate the 1.9 km bay swim. Video-supported drills help improve stroke efficiency and comfort in open water—key to navigating the calm but cool 20°C (68°F) conditions of the Gallipoli swim.

✅ Bike Strength for the Gallipoli Hills
The 90 km ride features nearly 900m of elevation, including steep ascents like Conkbayiri Hill. Your training includes VO2 max intervals, long rides with elevation, and strength sessions tailored to build climbing power and muscular resilience for the back half of this challenging bike course.

✅ Run Durability and Pacing
The 21.1 km run along the ANZAC Cove coastline requires sustained effort on tired legs. Our 3-lap pacing strategy is supported through brick workouts, tempo runs, and race-pace efforts in the peak phase, helping you execute a confident, strong finish.

✅ Masters-Focused Approach
Athletes over 40 benefit from a 3:1 periodized structure that prioritizes recovery, prevents injury, and ensures steady performance gains. Strength training, mobility work, and structured recovery weeks are embedded to support longevity and consistency.
