Plan Description

The Half Distance Triathlon Training Plan for Masters athletes over 40 is purpose-built to help you excel at the Middle Distance Triathlon Taiwan. Every phase of this 24-week program is engineered to prepare you for the unique demands of the race—from the calm waters of Flowing Lake to the breezy Pacific Coastal Highway and the scenic trails of Taitung.

🌊 Swim – 1.9 KM Flowing Lake
The plan’s structured swim workouts and expert-led video drills prepare you for Taiwan’s one-lap freshwater swim. Calm, clear water means speed is possible—but only with good form and pacing. That’s where your technique-focused sessions and RPE/HR guidance pay off.

🚴‍♀️ Bike – 90 KM Pacific Coastal Highway
With flat and gently rolling terrain plus potential coastal winds, the bike leg demands both aerobic endurance and power control. This plan includes power-based intervals and progressive long rides, ensuring you can ride efficiently—even in headwinds—and maintain your rhythm on this scenic yet deceptively fast course.

🏃 Run – 21.1 KM Taitung Trails
The run includes both city roads and shaded paths. To prepare, you'll build resilience and pacing through tempo efforts, brick workouts, and aerobic long runs. You’ll also benefit from masters-specific strength training, supporting joint stability and reducing injury risk as you log miles in humid conditions.
