This 44-week Intermediate Training Plan is your roadmap to conquering the course with confidence and strength. Every detail—from swim to bike to run—is intentionally designed to prepare you for Wanaka’s unique terrain, climate, and race-day challenges.

🏊‍♂️ Swim Prepared for Roys Bay Conditions
Lake Wānaka’s chilly 15°C waters and potential for wind-driven chop demand open-water experience and cold-water acclimation. Our plan includes progressive open-water swim sessions, swim drill videos, and cold-water adaptation strategies to ensure you're calm, confident, and efficient in the alpine lake.

🚴‍♀️ Climb Strong on the Scenic Bike Course
The 90 km out-and-back route to Treble Cone features rolling terrain, punchy climbs, and smooth tarmac. You'll build your climbing legs and endurance with:
✔️ Hill repeat sessions
✔️ Power/heart rate-based workouts
✔️ Progressive long rides that simulate race-day demands
✔️ Strength training to support muscular endurance on the rollers

🏃‍♂️ Conquer the Undulating Run with Ease
With lakeside trails, gentle undulations, and a sharp climb at 7 km, the Wanaka run course rewards well-rounded run strength. Our plan integrates:
