Plan Description
If you're over 40 and dreaming of finishing your first Half Distance Triathlon, this plan is your roadmap. You don’t need a background in endurance sports—just the desire to grow, one step at a time. This 44-week triathlon training plan is built specifically for Masters athletes who are starting from scratch and want to cross the finish line strong, confident, and injury-free.
The Florida course—featuring a calm swim in Lake Eva, a mostly flat bike with rolling hills through Polk County, and a fast, flat run—is perfect for a first-timer. But training smart is key. That’s where this plan delivers.
✅ Start Slow, Build Smart
We begin with a 12-week base phase to ease you into training. Swim, bike, and run workouts grow gradually, so your body adapts without overload.
✅ Triathlon-Specific Focus
As you gain fitness, the next 32 weeks build race-specific strength and skill. You’ll do brick workouts to simulate transitions, interval training to build speed, and longer sessions that mimic race conditions—heat, pacing, and hydration included.
✅ B and C Races for Practice and Confidence
You’ll be guided through strategically placed “B” and “C” events—practice races that prepare you mentally and physically for your “A” race without pressure. These tune-up events are key for first-timers to gain confidence and learn race-day routines.
