Racing the Half Distance Triathlon in Valdivia, Chile means navigating a fast yet demanding course—from the chilly Calle-Calle River swim to the flat-but-punchy bike through the lush countryside, and a scenic, bridge-crossing run into the heart of Valdivia. This 44-week triathlon training plan is tailored to help Masters athletes (40+) arrive confident, fit, and race-ready.

✅ Cold-Water Swim Confidence
Train with structured swim sets and video-supported technique drills to master your form and pacing. Early base phases include cold-water swim prep, ideal for Valdivia’s 14°C river.

✅ Race-Specific Bike Fitness
With 90 km of rolling terrain and a few sharp climbs, this course rewards consistent pacing and endurance. Brick workouts, power-based intervals, and heart-rate guided sessions develop the strength and control needed to thrive on this fast course.

The flat, scenic 21.1 km run over Valdivia’s iconic bridges demands steady pacing and durability. The plan builds run resilience with VO₂ max efforts, tempo runs, and off-the-bike brick sessions that mimic race-day fatigue.
