This 24-week Half Distance Triathlon Training Plan is engineered specifically for competitive Masters athletes over 40 who have a solid base of training who are aiming to race strong through the vibrant and historic streets of Cartagena.

From the calm, warm waters of Bahía de las Ánimas to the fast, flat Vía al Mar bike segment and the iconic finish at the Torre del Reloj, this program prepares you for every challenge the Cartagena Half Distance Triathlon offers.

✅ Open-Water Swim Readiness – The plan includes structured swim workouts, video drills, and open-water simulation sets to prepare you for the 1.9 km Caribbean swim. Smooth pacing, sighting practice, and temperature adaptation ensure you're race-day ready.
✅ High-Speed Bike Conditioning – With targeted power-based workouts, this plan sharpens your ability to maintain steady output on Cartagena’s mostly flat 90 km coastal bike course. Expect to feel strong and in control across long stretches with scenic beach views.
✅ Heat-Adapted Run Training – Prepare for Cartagena’s warm, humid climate with brick sessions and tempo runs built to simulate the two-loop, 21 km run through the colorful Old City. Train to manage heart rate, hydration, and rhythm even in tropical conditions.
✅ Masters-Focused Strength & Recovery – Functional strength training builds durability for long race efforts while the 3:1 periodization protects against injury and burnout—ideal for aging athletes.
